I offer a variety of counseling services including individual therapy, couples therapy, and structured premarital therapy.
I do not accept insurance at this time. Payment can be made via cash, check, debit card, credit card, FSA card, or HSA card. If your insurance provider accepts out-of-network billing, I am also able to provide a monthly superbill for the purpose of seeking reimbursement on your own. Please note that superbills do require a diagnosis, which an important consideration to consider.
Seeing a pre-licensed therapist means working with someone who has completed their formal education in counseling or therapy but has not yet obtained their full professional license. Pre-licensed therapists work under the supervision of a licensed mental health professional while they gain the necessary clinical experience to qualify for licensure themselves. This supervision includes regularly meetings to confidentially discuss client needs and receive guidance and support.
You will receive paperwork to complete via our online portal prior to your intake session. During your first session, I will ask questions to get to know you better and understand what brings you to counseling. You will also have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the counseling process.
A counseling session typically lasts for 50 minutes, although session length may vary depending on your specific needs and preferences. An intake for couples counseling will be 80 minutes – this gives us plenty of time to go over relationship history and some family history without feeling rushed.
Couples therapy will include an 80-minute intake session, the price of which includes an online assessment through the Gottman Institute that are used to determine areas of strength and growth in your relationship. The assessment takes about 2 hours to complete outside of session, so please budget your time accordingly. After our intake, we will schedule an individual session for each of you – this extra time allows me to ask more personal questions about your family and relationship history without taking time out of a conjoint session. Once our individual sessions are complete, our work will primarily be conjoint as a group of three unless something major comes up that we need to process individually.
Yes, I do! If you are unable to travel to my office, I offer virtual sessions via a HIPAA-compliant platform. Please note that you must be in the state of Tennessee to participate in virtual therapy.
Although I don't require a consultation prior to an intake, I do highly recommend it. This allows us to make sure we're a good fit before moving forward. It will also give you an opportunity to ask questions about the therapy process or how I work.
My office is located in the Midtown neighborhood of Nashville. If you prefer in-person sessions, I will send exact instructions on where to park, how to check in, etc prior to our intake.
I am in the office on Mondays and Wednesdays (for in-person or virtual clients). I also accept only virtual clients on Tuesdays.
